In contemporary times, emphasis has shifted from that of merely achieving national growth and development to sustainable human development. The latter embodies the elements of the former as well as concerns about the problems of environmental degradation in the pursuit of development. Central to this are the activities of the human element. Gender and Sustainable Development examines the human element in the process of growth and development. Therefore an accelerated development of any nation will require the efficient mobilization and effective use of productive resources (human and material). This workshop is therefore designed to address challenges of sustainable development arising from gender imbalance.
