Level 3 Certificate in Starting Your Own Business

This programme is perfect for those who are skilled and want to turn their talents and passion into real business.
The programme will run for 36 weeks and will offer participants a total of 95 guided learning hours. It is intended for those who are dedicated to start their own business or social enterprise and create their own jobs but in need of learning the tools to help build the right foundation for starting up a business. Participants have up to 36 months to complete their assessment to gain the ILM Level 3 Certificate , however we recommend that participants complete their course within 12 months of starting the programme.

The programme is delivered by trainers who are all dedicated business owners, business advisors and/or consultants with expert knowledge and experience in starting a business.

You as a participant will be learning practical leadership, management and business ideas generation/development skills and your complete commitment to start and finish the programme is a pre-requisite for enrolment.

Level 3 Certificatein Starting Your Own Business

The programme will offer participants a total of 95 guided learning hours. Participants have up to 12 months to complete their assessment to gain the ILM Level 2 Certificate after the formal tuitions, however we recommend that participants complete their course within six months of starting the programme.
The programme is delivered by trainers who are all dedicated business owners, business advisors and/or consultants with expert knowledge and experience in starting a business.

You as a participant will be learning practical leadership, management and business ideas generation/development skills and your complete commitment to start and finish the programme is a pre-requisite for enrolment.


Contents :
The programme covers all aspects of starting a new business enterprise with lots of opportunities for developing your business ideas with the help of the trainers delivering the programme over the five sessions.
You will be asked to send your business idea to your tutor marked confidential, if you want to take advantage of the one on one help of up to one hour (outside the five formal sessions) with developing your business idea. If you are not comfortable for any reason to send your business ideas to us, we ask that you send a non-disclosure agreement via email to info@bssresponders.com, which we will use to reassure you that your idea will be kept in strict confidence and will not be abused without financial liability on our part. Otherwise you can opt out of this session.

Module 1
Assessing own suitability for business enterprise whether as a social enterprise or a private business enterprise
Identifying what it takes to start a business enterprise for commercial reason and gaps that you will need addressing to ensure you complete the journey ahead
Putting together a professional and personal development plan for growth
Developing your soft skills such as effective communication, time management and assertiveness skills for business
Understanding the legal and regulatory framework of running a business


Module 2
Exploring idea generation and development strategies
Formulating and developing your own business ideas using techniques learn't
Identifying your target market and mapping out their profile for effective planning
Understanding the operating environment of different sectors at the macro and micro level using business tools such as PEST analysis, Porters Five Forces and more.......
Putting together a business plan for starting up your business enterprise ensuring you are starting the process with a clear vision and mission


Module 3
Putting together a business plan for starting your business enterprise- continued from previous session
Understanding financial concepts for business e.g financial costings and projections, profit and loss accounts, balance sheets and cash flow statements
Assessing your financial needs


Module4

Putting together financial forecasts to determine financial needs continue
Understanding the concept of budgeting and its effectiveness in financial management
Sourcing and raising finance for business start-up- grants, loans and equity
Understanding lending and investors appraisal criteria
Presenting your business plan to lenders or investors with confidence

Module 5
Introduction to marketing and selling skills
Putting together your marketing plan to support your strategies
Understanding how to sell to the public sector through effective bid writing.
Introduction to people and relationship management for effective team building and business growth
Understanding the importance of business systems and policies.
Students will be assigned course materials and workbooks to complete each module of the course as well as a tutor. All students will get a copy of a well written business start-up book.
This course is also available as a distance learning course / workshop and it is accredited by the Institute Of Leadership & Management.

Certificate rules of combination Learners must achieve 21 credits from the 9 mandatory units 200, 300, 301, 302, 303, 304, 305, 306, 307 & 308 and are required to achieve a further 4 credits.
