This course focuses on the relevance of managing human resources and the need to update practices in order to fully utilise human capacity in achieving improved public service delivery. Through the course, delegates will acquire skills in harnessing optimum performance from staff through a combination of tools and systems.

  • Understand the development of modern HR policy and practice in local context, introducing merit-based assessment and appraisal systems

  • Implement a management reward system including job evaluation, pay and reward systems, develop and introduce strategy

  • Modernise personnel record keeping

  • Recognise the importance of induction, corporately and locally

  • Develop techniques to ensure recruitment, selection and promotion are merit based

  • Revise and update current disciplinary and grievance procedures
