On their part, leading companies in the private sector recognise they should develop strategies to meet these needs while remaining profitable. At the same time, many of the most effective non-governmental organisations (NGOs) recognise they can achieve widespread and lasting change by harnessing the power of the market. To achieve these goals, companies and NGOs are finding ways to work together.
This emerging shift in the NGO/private corporation relationship creates an exciting new landscape of opportunities for both parties to collaborate, boost capacityand sustainability, and deliver service to the community. Yet such partnerships must not be entered into lightly.
