The laws which provide the legal framework and regulatory environment for employment are critical to the effective functioning of the Human Resource role in organizations. These laws define the employment environment, influence practice standards, guide activities, clarify roles, responsibilities, duties, and obligations, establish standards and procedure for offences, grievances and seeking of re-dress and generally determine the overall quality of relationship between employers and employees.

Reviews, changes, and some updates have been made to the employment laws and relevant provisions in Nigeria, with significant implications for Human Resource Practice. It is important for HR and everyone who has related responsibilities to arm themselves with sound knowledge of these changes and how to handle issues effectively and ensure the right atmosphere for a productive workforce.
