Sectoral Policy Planning and Management Workshop (EMP 9)
By: Centre for Management Development (CMD)
Lagos State, Nigeria
Aug 06 - 17 Aug, 2012
In implementing the National Vision 20:2020 (NV 20:2020), there is need to ensure proper integration of sectoral policies and strategies to enhance linkage and realize potential synergies amongst the nation?s growth sectors. For instance, the linkage among agriculture, industry and science and technology remains too weak for meaningful development. Sound sectoral policy analysis and planning are indispensable in resolving the question of choice, priority and interdependence among sectors. Sectors have specific goals and targets that can be met through relevant policies, which emanate from the national macroeconomic objectives that reflect government development priorities. As a result, the articulation and implementation of sector specific polices at one time or the other stimulates the rapid overall economic development of the nation. Therefore, inter-sectoral linkages, effective monitoring and evaluation of policies, plans and programmes are essential components towards the realization of the Vision. The foregoing provides the basis for this workshop, which aims at strengthening the capacity for sectoral policy analysis, planning and management in Nigeria.
