Advanced Econometric Modelling For Policy Analysis and Simulation Workshop (EMP 12)
By: Centre for Management Development (CMD)
Lagos State, Nigeria
Oct 15 - 19 Oct, 2012
Policies are crucial to the success of all human endeavours. They clarify existing conditions; define desired future conditions and objectives, and articulate relevant course of actions and strategies to reach the desired conditions. Undoubtedly, the resilience to reverse the conditions and redress the ?Nigerian paradox? of a country that is rich in resources while the citizens are predominantly poor is encapsulated in the determination to enhance public policy formulation and implementation within the policy cycle process. Taking a cue from the industrialized economies in the face of Vision 20:2020, it can be noted that policy modeling, within the context of econometrics, has been a major panacea for the industrial economies? development. Thus the need to develop econometrics skills for planners/managers, and macroeconometric and input-output modeling capacity for policy analysis have informed the running of this workshop on advanced econometrics for policy analysis and simulation. The workshop will strengthen and harness the gains of knowledge acquisition for more effective development policy management in Nigeria and other economies of the world.
