Managerial efficiency depends not only on the competency of the executives, but also on the proficiency of other staff in handling office management. Proficiency in office management depends on how the officers entrusted with the job are able to handle a number of assignments, including methodical filing and indexing, management of business information and documents, meetings, correspondence and report writing, etc. In most public and private sector organizations, however, the staff assigned the responsibility of office management often lack the requisite skills to effectively handle these functions. Besides, the growing complexity of work in the office, dynamic management challenges and opportunities and the increasing societal demands for more result-oriented organizations have made the duties of executives? aides (secretaries, personal assistants, etc.) more critical in the organizational performance. The workshop is designed to enhance participants? understanding of the facilitating link between micro-computing and office management, with a view to improving their professional capabilities.
