In the workplace people often refer to waste as tangible items such as materials, water or electricity, to mention just a few. However, in productivity management, waste is usually defined as "any form of work which does not add value to the final output" (Seong, 2007). Waste also refers to anything other than the minimum amount of equipment, materials, worker's time and parts space which are absolutely essential to add value to the goods or service.
