In a depressed economy, violent crime within the immediate environment is always on the increase. On daily basis we are being confronted by armed robbery, kidnapping, hired assassins, extortionists, 419 etc. The victims mostly are chief executives, managers who are mostly attacked in transit or sometimes at their various residences. Interestingly, the driver’s position in the whole scenario is quite strategic, in that he conveys these Executives/Managers and other staff members from home to offices on daily basis and often to meetings and tours. The driver is accountable for the safety of his passengers/staff, vehicle/bus protection and pilferage control. For drivers to effectively take charge of these responsibilities there is need for drivers to undergo training and retraining in safety/security awareness to sharpen their security consciousness
