NGN 250,000 |
Venue: 17th floor western house, broad street Lagos Island
Event Location
The increasing complexity of today's business environment has made effective risk governance and a strong organisational risk culture essential to sustainable business performance. Organisations are exposed to interconnected strategic, financial, operational, regulatory, cybersecurity, reputational, climate and emerging risks. Consequently, boards and senior management can no longer view risk management as the sole responsibility of the risk or compliance department.
A strong risk culture begins with the tone from the top. The board and senior management are responsible for establishing the organisation's risk appetite, setting appropriate governance structures, ensuring effective internal controls and making sure that risk considerations are incorporated into strategic and operational decisions. The Basel Committee specifically emphasises the board's responsibility for establishing a strong risk management culture and overseeing the organisation's risk management framework.
The evolution of corporate governance has therefore increased the importance of board-level risk oversight. Directors are expected to understand the organisation's material risks, challenge management where necessary, monitor risk exposures and ensure that appropriate escalation and reporting mechanisms are in place.
This course provides a practical understanding of how boards, board committees, executives, risk professionals, internal auditors and compliance teams can work together to establish a risk-aware organisational culture, effective governance framework and robust board-level risk oversight system.
It also examines the relationship between governance, risk appetite, strategy, internal controls, the Three Lines Model, risk reporting and organisational performance. These areas are increasingly relevant to Nigerian organisations as regulatory and governance expectations continue to evolve.
