The need to improve the quality of education at all levels has made this forum to be established. The aim of this course is to: “Improve all aspects of the quality of education to achieve recognised and measurable learning outcomes for all-especially in literacy, numeracy and essential life skills”.

A quality education system must manage to provide all children and young people with a comprehensive education and with an appropriate preparation for working life, life in society and private life. This should be achieved without distinctions of any kind, such as those based on parent’s income, colour, gender, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin.

The purpose and focus of this workshop

The purpose of this course is to examine the key role teachers play in providing quality education. The course will cover:

• how to define quality
• discussions on quality education in the recent years.
• who can be described as a good teacher?
• what teachers can do to improve quality in education.
• what governments and education authorities can do to support teachers in their efforts to improve quality?
• what teacher unions can do to improve quality in education.
