Financial Modelling and Analysis in PPP Project Financing

This is particularly important for PPP projects where long-term commitments are made now based on bankability, value for money and risk allocation. During the course, participants will gain knowledge and skills on the frameworks, tools, and methodologies necessary to build quantitative models for financial decision-making in order to improve the financial viability and bankability of PPP projects. Participants will master modelling frameworks on capital budgeting, risk measurement, regression analysis and Monte Carlo Simulation among others.
Objective
- Analyse the key input variables to an infrastructure financing model
- Explain the basic principles in financial modelling
- Identify the key characteristics and components of a project.
- Understand pricing calculation methods for project contracts and the implications of different profit recognition approaches.
- Recognize the various types of direct project costs, including costs incurred to secure a contract.
- Determine when allowances should be included in a project budget and when interest should be capitalized.
- Identify the circumstances under which costs related to internal-use software or website development should be capitalized or expensed.
- Specify controls for cost assignment and methods for calculating the percentage of project completion.
- Understand the elements of formulas used in project financial analysis.
- Apply a structured approach to financial modeling using Excel for project evaluation and reporting.
