This is to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to account for pension plans, prepare and interpret pension-related financial statements, and comply with applicable financial reporting and disclosure requirements in accordance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory frameworks.

By the end of the course, students should be able to:

  • Explain the nature and types of pension plans (defined benefit and defined contribution).
  • Apply accounting principles to recognize and measure pension costs and liabilities.
  • Prepare pension-related financial statements and reports.
  • Understand and apply relevant accounting standards (such as IAS 19 Employee Benefits or other applicable national standards).
  • Interpret and analyze pension information presented in financial statements.
  • Comply with statutory disclosure and reporting requirements for pension schemes.
  • Evaluate pension obligations and their impact on an organization's financial position and performance.
