In contemporary times, attention has diverted from merely achieving national growth and development to sustainable human development. The latter embodies the elements of the former as well as concerns about the problems of environmental degradation in the pursuit of development. Central to this are activities of the human element. In practice, it is obvious that the challenges of slow growth in economic, social and political development can not be far from the present inadequate gender practices. Gender Issues in Sustainable Development examines the human element in the process of growth and development. Therefore, the accelerated development of any nation will require efficient mobilization and effective use of productive resources (human and material). This workshop is therefore designed to address the challenges of sustainable development arising from gender imbalance.
