This course prepares delegates to receive recognition for their health and safety skills and knowledge anywhere in the world with the NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety. More than 20,000 people have achieved the qualification since its introduction in 2004.
Holders of the International General Certificate are entitled to Associate Membership (AIOSH) of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). The qualification also meets the academic requirements for Technician Membership (Tech IOSH) of IOSH.
Who Should Attend?
Managers, supervisors and employees throughout the world take the NEBOSH International General Certificate because it gives them the skills and know-how to fulfil their health and safety responsibilities in any country and in any organisation. The NEBOSH International General Certificate is also suitable for those embarking on a career in health and safety, providing a sound basis for progression on to higher qualifications. No previous health and safety knowledge is required. The examination is available in English, Arabic, Turkish and Russian.
The NEBOSH International General Certificate covers the principles of health and safety, identification and control of workplace hazards, as well as the practical application of this knowledge. The course takes a risk- management approach based on best- practices and international standards, such as the International Labour Organisation (ILO) codes of practice. Local laws and cultural factors may form part of the study course, where relevant and appropriate. The qualification also features a practical workplace assessment.
The NEBOSH International General Certificate is divided into three units, each of which is assessed separately:
- Management of international health and safety (IGC1)
- Control of international workplace hazards (IGC2)
- International health and safety practical application (IGC3)
