Research and Data Analytics

The research and data analytics course focuses on an understanding of scientific and statistical concepts; scientific investigation including the importance of collecting data of the highest possible quality; efficient data analysis using appropriate statistical methods and statistical and data software packages; as well as gaining the appropriate ethical approval.

It aimed at equipping the participants with the knowledge and skills to undertake a research study. The participants will understand relevant theories, concepts, tools and techniques in research.

This training will highlight:

• Understanding of scientific and basic statistical concepts
• Evaluations of a range of numerical and graphical data and how to communicate findings
• Research design for computational projects
• Effective data communication
• Graphical tools for specific dataset
• Research ethics and integration.

Workshop objectives:

• Demonstrate a critical understanding of scientific and basic statistical concepts
• Undertake critical evaluations of a range of numerical and graphical data and understand how to communicate findings
• Being able to choose a good research design for computational projects
• Being able to communicate data efficiently with graphics and choosing the proper graphical tools for a specific dataset
• Understand the importance of research ethics and integrate research ethics into the research process.

Training Methodology

This course will be conducted physically and virtually simultaneously, with formal presentations and an interactive training manual. It will be delivered by seasoned trainers with vast experience in their respective fields of practice. The course is taught through a mix of practical activities, theories, group activities, and case studies. The session will be wrapped up by an industry expert to share practical experience related to the course topic, and a Q&A session with the participants.
