The Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply of Nigeria (CIPSN) Lagos State Chapter has elected Akeem Bello, a Procurement Officer in the Lagos State Civil Service as Chairman of the chapter for the next two years.
The new chairman, Mr Akeem Bello is a Chief Procurement Officer (Level 14) in the Lagos State Procurement Agency and former Personal Assistant to the pioneer General Manager of the Agency.
His working experience started in 1992 in the private sector before he joined the Lagos State Civil Service in 2004 as a Scientific Officer.
In the last ten years, he has been involved in Public Sector Procurement especially on projects funded by World Bank (Lagos Metropolitan Development and Governance Project) and other multilateral Development Banks (Eko-up Project). In 2012, he officially converted to Procurement Officers’ Cadre and subsequently deployed to Lagos State Public Procurement Agency.
Akeem Bello is also a member of the Editorial team of the Lagos State Procurement journal and a columnist in the Journal. His contributions to the development and standardization of procurement documents, development of training modules, capacity building and conversion of procurement officers in Lagos State are immeasurable. He has to his credit as well, numerous procurement templates developed by him for use by the State.
He has also been a facilitator on several procurement trainings/ workshops across the country, and he is a resource lecturer with the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply, Nigeria and Yaba College of Technology (Yaba Consult).
As part of his contributions to Procurement Officers’ Cadre in the State, Bello has authored a book titled “Standard Operating Procedures in Public Sector Procurement”, A unique professional procurement handbook for all public officials, procurement managers and stakeholders in public sector procurement.
Mr Akeem Bello is a certified procurement specialist by International Training Centre-International Labour Organisation, (ITC-ILO), Turin, Italy and also a member of the Institute of Professional Managers and Administrators of Nigeria (IPMA).
