IDPE was  founded in 2010 and accredited by the Federal Ministry of Education Nigeria, governed by the National Executive Council (NEC), Guaranteed by the Ministry of Justice and incorporated by the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria. RC. 1058375 . IDPE became centre accredited by the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) in 2014 offering Drilling Industry Training Courses (DIT).

IDPE is one of only few institutions offering fully integrated teaching in Upstream and Downstream sectors of the Oil and Gas industry. Renowned for the quality of its teaching and research, IDPE has a diverse cohort of students, staff and Instructors regionally, Nationally and Internationally. We pride ourselves on having modern curricula, designed by industry professionals to produce the caliber of professionals needed by industry; and in doing research that provides useful information to industry and government decision-makers, and to society at large.
