Abuja Graduate School (AGS) was established in 2008 in response to the nation’s declared commitment to catch-up with the 20 most developed economies of the world by year 2020. Recognising the serious gap in training and knowledge of our people, it became obvious that this vision cannot be achieved without urgent commitment to training, up-skilling and capacity building of the workforce who will be driving the envisaged emergent economy.
Meanwhile, public education in Nigeria, had collapsed since the 1980s, and Nigerian universities had been turning out graduates with degree certificates not worthy of the paper they are written on. As a result, these young graduates remain unemployable because of the serious gaps in their knowledge. AGS challenge was to provide them with the opportunity to redress these serious gaps by offering them programmes of international standards in collaboration with reputable foreign institutions.
As a business and management school, AGS is designed to provide postgraduate executive education, focusing on those skills desperately needed in the public and private sectors of our economic and social life. It is also a Research and Consultancy institution committed to helping businesses and organisations realise their manpower training and productivity needs, converting potentials into high performance in our continually changing and dynamic environments.
