Matec047 - Pipeline Designs, Installation and Maintenance Course
NGN 200,000 |
Venue: Ostra Halls and Suites, 1, Ostra Close, Off Otunba Jobi Fele Street, Ikeja, Lagos State
The objective of this Pipeline Designs, Installation and Maintenance Course is to help participants gain a comprehensive knowledge of elements that are essential for the design, operation, and maintenance of pipelines. The design of the gathering network, pressure drops, fluid pattern, and the network arrangement will be discussed in detail. A gathering network simulator (Pipesim or equivalent) will be used to obtain the best operating and design conditions for the system.
The course will also provide a practical way to learn about the elements considered in the design, code, factors, legislation, material selection, corrosion (internal and external) considerations, and management. Hydrotesting, pigging (cleaning and smarts), pipeline integrity analysis using inspection survey, monitoring data, fitness for purpose, risk analysis, and predictive and preventative maintenance will also be covered.
Course Benefits
At the end of the programme, participants will be able to:
- Combustion processes and engine operation principles
- Types and applications
- Fuel and lube oil requirements
- ISO ratings and terminologies
- Engine components and their functions
- Generator principles and construction
- Plant layout requirements for single and multiple units
- Associated control panels and operation
- Testing and commissioning procedures
- Plant performance troubleshooting techniques
- Good maintenance practices
Training Modules
Day 1: Pipeline Preparation
This course will begin with a brief introduction of what the participants can expect to learn during the duration of the course. Participants will learn about pipeline code and standards, the preliminary survey, and flow of fluid in pipelines on this day.
- Pipeline code and standards
- Preliminary survey
- Flow of fluid in pipelines
Day 2: Multiphase Flow
On the second day, participants will learn about multiphase flow. Topics of discussion will include two-phase flow, flow system and pattern, pressure drop, trouble shooting, and the effect of flow pattern on the corrosion rate.
- Two phases
- Flow pattern maps
- Flow system
- Troubleshooting
DAY 3: Gathering System and Pipeline Design
Participants will learn about the gathering system concept and pipeline design on this day. Pipeline design factor, fundamental elements, and codes will also be covered. Wall thickness criteria, contraction criteria, erosional velocity, location classification and use of the standards will be discussed.
- Gathering system
- Pipeline configuration
- Pipeline design o Location classification
Day 4: Pipeline Construction and Testing
The focus of day four will be on pipeline constructions and problems that can affect them. Specifically, this day will cover the stages of the pipeline construction, internal and external corrosion considerations. Other topics to be covered include hydrostatic testing procedures, criticalities, and pipeline standards.
- Pipeline construction
- Hydrostatic test
- Corrosion considerations
Day 5: Pipeline Operation, Inspection, Maintenance, And Integrity
The last day of the course will discuss pipeline operation, inspection, maintenance, and integrity management. Specifics topics that will be covered include coating monitoring and inspection, engineering and design, operations control and monitoring, risk-based inspection (API 580 and API 581), projected remaining life and fitness for service assessment (API 579).
- Pipeline operation
- Coating monitoring and inspection
- Pigging
- Integrity management
Target Audience
This course is designed for all levels of Technical Personnel in the oil and Gas Industry as well as in Chemical and Process Industries but will greatly benefit:
- Technical Personnel in charge of Production
- Maintenance and Operations Engineers
- Operators
- Supervisors
- Engineering Managers
Award of Certificate:
At the end of the programme, only participants who have succeeded in completing all assignments shall be awarded a certificate.
