This Disaster Risk Management Training is designed to strengthen the capacity of professionals in leveraging spatial data and remote sensing technologies for effective disaster preparedness and response. Participants will gain practical skills to assess hazards, map risks, and support early warning systems using GIS tools.
Offered both in-person and virtually, this program caters to professionals working in disaster risk reduction, urban planning, and emergency response. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a certification recognizing their skills in applying GIS and remote sensing to real-world disaster scenarios.
Program Objectives
- Assess spatial data requirements for disaster risk management
- Apply GIS and RS tools for hazard, vulnerability, and risk (HVR) assessments
- Plan DRR interventions by using spatial multi-criteria analysis
- Evaluate the availability of spatial data and appreciate the importance of spatial data infrastructure
- Implement early warning systems on the basis of GIS and RS data
- Employ Participatory GIS at a community level
- Perform Damage assessment and generate necessary information for recovery planning
Target Audience
