Environmental Impact Assessment

Environmental impact assessment is an important tool in assuring that projects and plans will not give adverse impact on environment. It is doing the first thing first to avoid incidents that is likely to happen and if it thus happen to mitigate its severity. Example, what will be the impact of siting high tension electric wire in high density residential area? What will be the impact of sinking borehole all over a community where there is no pipe borne water?

What will the impact of siting gas station within residential areas? In some area in Nigeria, you hardly can get a clean water from a borehole. Doing a quality environmental impact assessment will tell you why and the soil type and the necessity to get to a certain depth in a certain area to get clean water. Also construction of roads, buildings will require environmental impact assessment etc. This 5 Day course is therefore essential and intended to expose participants to rudiments of EIA, the history, the process, global trends etc to perform optimally in their area of work that needs environmental impact assessment for quality decision making.
